What's the EXACT error message?
This is often caused by having multiple version of the file OELAUT32.DLL on the computer - do a Search for all such. and post back with the Properties of each, and their locations. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "Sandy" wrote in message ... A typo on Noel's part, he meant to type OLEAUT32.DLL.

Did search. Three DLL files came up.
1. The correct version of OLEAUT32.DLL for Win Me is the version that is now in
your Windows\System\sfp\archive folder. The copy you have instead in your system folder appears to be that for XP SP1. Replacing the copy in your system folder is not easy as this file is protected by Win Me's system file protection, which does intrigue as to how it has been updated to the version used in XP. Try the following. If it doesn't help with the problem then reverse the steps to restore the current copy. Copy OLEAUT32.DLL from C:\Windows\system\sfp\archive to your desktop. Rename it OLEAUT32.NEW and now drag it to the windows\system folder. Boot to a DOS prompt using a floppy. At the A:\ prompt enter C: This then switches to a C:\ prompt. Now enter CD WINDOWS\SYSTEM This then switches you to a C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM prompt. Now enter REN OLEAUT32.DLL OLEAUT32.OLD and REN OLEAUT32.NEW OLEAUT32.DLL Remove floppy Boot to Normal Mode. Has this helped? -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Sandy wrote: Did search. Three DLL files came up. 1. Help. I went to Windows Explorer and looked in system
files. OLEAUT32.DLL - 556 KB - hasn't been modified since 8/23/01. Under system sfp archive OLEAUT32.DLL 601 KB - 6/8/2000 modified. Does this mean anything? Thought I would tell you this to see if you still advise me to make the changes. I seem to be having a driver problem. On one of my burning programs error message came up no supported CD-R or CD-RW drive. Yet the computer recognizes the burner. On another burn program it said cannot find any drives on your SCSI Bus. With that error, it said most common reason is you don't have properly installed ASPI driver. I have looked at system and can't find ASPI driver. I looked under folder system32/drivers. -----Original Message----- The correct version of OLEAUT32.DLL for Win Me is the version that is now in your Windows\System\sfp\archive folder. each of the REN statements needs to be typed on its own line after the
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ prompt - thusly REN OLEAUT32.DLL OLEAUT32.OLD (hit the Enter key - the response may come back '1 File renamed', and then the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM prompt will reappear) REN OLEAUT32.NEW OLEAUT32.DLL (ditto) HTH -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "Sandy" wrote in message ...
