Windows Update
I don't really understand your question. The number of clicks are different
because they are different steps (steps 3 and 4 are related). -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "fredbellsr (removethis) @Prodigy.net" wrote in message ... I'm back again, this time after reformatting my harddrive and restoring the original software and Windows 98. I called SBC yahoo my internet provider and asked them to send me a new installation disc. I reloaded Yahoo I then went to Outlook express (I use outlook express for e- mail). About a couple of months age I had updated outlook express from version 5 to 6 and a couple of weeks ago I downloaded all the latest security updates that Microsoft recomended. I again tried to update because after reformatting and restoring I was back to version 5. I went to "Microsoft Windows Update" and got the followng message SOFTWARE UPDATE INCOMPLETE I clicked on the line "Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article Q174360" which brought me to MICROSOFT KNOWLEDGE BASE ARTICLE 319585 WINUP: "Software Update Incomplete This Windows Update Software Did Not Update Successfully" Error Message When You Visit the Windows Update Web Site. I scrolled to the section Windows 98 and no problem until I got to the section "Delete Temporary Internet Files" At first I did not know what the "Control Pane was until I read line 6 which tells you to close the "Control Panel" I finally got past that. Here is the problem, in the section "Delete Files from Windows Update Folder" Line 2 tells you to click, not double click th V4 folder. Line 3 tells you to double click V4 Somehow I goofed because when I finished I was no better off. In fact I tried to run a Scan and got a message about some bytes where not attached to files. I seem to be getting better at reformatting and recovering so I did again and am now back to, is line 2 a single click and line 3 a double click. I ask these questions only because I don't want to go thru this again if I can help it. Many thanks Fred |

Windows Update
Thanks Ron. You did answer my question, before I messed
up again I wanted to be sure that click in step 3 was not a type error, that in fact it is a single click. One more Ron. Where it reads press DELETE is that the keyboard delete? Remember I'm the guy when the computer says press any key I go looking for the ANY key. Again thanks for your help and patience. -----Original Message----- I don't really understand your question. Windows Update
Delete can be the keyboard key or it can be a right click and delete.
