disable "contents" context menu
I have win98SE, I would like to get rid of the contents right-click menu.
I do not know if that is a powertoy, native to win98, or possibly a Norton utilities function. Any help is appreciated. tx, john |

It's a "context" menu. It provides commands that are appropriate to the
"context" in which the item you're clicking is found, usually a sub-set of commands you can also find in the menu of the window in which you are operating. While it's an innate Windows function, what is shown there can be edited for each filetype. However, I'm not sure there's any overall switch that turns them off completely, nor am I certain that *all* context menu items can be turned off. May I ask why you want them turned off? Might be easier to disable the right (or left) mouse button. -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP Shell/User "JohnB" wrote in message om... Uninstall it if it is the Win95 PowerToy.
It will have an entry in Control Panel-Add/Remove called "Contents Submenu" ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion, JohnB wrote: I have win98SE, I would like to get rid of the contents right-click menu. Glad to hear it. You did well to ultimately uninstall it properly with

That is perfect, then, & the advice passed down through the ages is
correct: first, try it properly with the proper uninstall routine. Only after that should fail, possibly do your own deletes. OK, thanks. -- Thanks or Good Luck, There may be humor in this post, and, Naturally, you will not sue, should things get worse after this, PCR "JohnB" wrote in message om... | In article , | says... | Glad to hear it.
