Default Tools for Win Me

Ive seen some removal tools to remove Malicous virus/worms from Microsoft on
other OS ... anything for ME.

Also, why does the beta only work for a few and not all OS?

Thanks.

Perhaps for the same reason that Ford are no longer providing updates for
the original Model T? Win Me is out of full support and has not been sold
by Microsoft for three or more years. Check out Microsoft Office 2003,
Corel PhotoPaint 12 and Adobe Acrobat 7 and you will see that none of
these products can be installed on PCs running any version Win 9x
operating system including Win Me.

It would be nice if Microsoft AntiSpyware were to be capable of
installation on systems running Win Me or 98SE but I suspect it will never
come about. Just as IE6 SP2 is only available for XP SP2 and later and
the same is likely to be true also of IE7.

I'm just a little confused. I thought your questions we
"... anything for ME" and "why does the beta only work for a few and not
all OS?"
to which I replied from the point of view of a Win Me user.

If you have problems regarding what may or may not be available for
Win2000 you might want to post those in a W2K newsgroup. The beta
Microsoft AntiSpyware (MAS) is however available for Win2K because Win2K
is still in support, is still used extensively in the corporate sector and
shares the same basic NT kernel structure with XP. I know this seems
unfair and many of us have complained about this, especially as GIANT, on
which MAS is built, used to be able to run on both 98SE and Win Me as well
as NT based systems.

Understood.

Mainline support for Win Me ended 31 December 2003 with extended support
terminating 30 June 2006 whilst mainline support for Windows 2000 Pro
continues to 30 June 2005 with extended and also I believe corporate
support continuing to 30 June 2010.

Nah, WinME is based on WinNT which is different (even though it looks
the same) from the Win9x line.

Rick T is incorrect here.

Windows NT is the precursor to W2K and XP.

NT is entirely different from the Win9X line of OS's, which includes Windows
Millennium, aka, WinME, or WinMe.
WinME is the "half step" from Win9X to XP, ergo, its SFP and SR.
