That's the same version I have Noel, it came with my new DVD RW drive but
of course I run XP.
On the box for the new drive it does list WinMe but the CD with Sonic on
doesn't just a warning for 2000 and XP user to uninstall Intel Application
Accelarator driver if installed before putting Sonic on.

"I think they should be able to figure it out" - don't hold your breath!g

Whatever, if/when I find time, then I'll have a go (and I may have a more
recent version of Sonic floating around somewhere....)

I suspect that a different version will change the whole scenario. The
Person who asked me had purchased the new burner from dell to go with his
Dell pc, so he is going to have a go with dell support again. he said so
far they have done nothing but the phone shuffle with him. Since they
sold
both devices, and OEM software is supposed to be supported by the OEM
seller, I think they should be able to figure it out.

Joe,

Try asking in either the alt.comp.periphs.cdr or
comp.publish.cdrom.software newsgroups on Usenet. You are probably
more
likely to come across someone there who is using this software.

Sorry not to be able to assist but never having used Record Now! I have
nothing else to suggest.

someone else asked me. and the first thing they want for you to
contact them is some registered address. meaning i had to have
registered the software with them. so i expect if i do go that route
i will find because the software came OEM with the burner, they will
say sorry about your luck we don't support OEM software. not that i
have ever heard that line before. i thought maybe i couild find a
newsgroup for that software in particular, where i would be sure to
find the right answer, but i had no luck with that either.

OK Joe. I see you've got about as much help as you're likely to be able to
get here. Good luck.

sm,
that's all the information i have, other than the sonic web site gives
system requirments for windows ME. so from that i did a long stretch and
deduced that if they are giving system requirements then it must be

possible
to run on that os. i know it's a stretch though. so, maybe somebody out
there knows that you must have a certain patch or something to install it.

Ah, that would be the "Purple monkey dishwasher incompatible operating
system" error message!

The solution is to use the correct software for the operating system.

Or to give us enough information to be able to give a real answer!

If you are interested, Dell failed miserably on solving the problem. They
passed the guy back and forth between people on hold for a half hour or so
each time and never could give him a good answer. He finally emailed
customer service with a complaint and actually got a quick response, they
sent him another version that doesn't work either. I don't think we'll see
that in the Dell comercials!

I tried a copy I had that was 6.5 I believe, it had the same problem.
