Hey Noel,

you were right on both counts! You are a godsend.

My gut feeling is that I installed the patches in one
swoop. I have installed patches with norton runnin before,
and it usually reboots fine.

Ill try your suggestion. Im breatheless from excitement.
Wish me luck!

Hey again, Noel and Co.

I went into safe mode and tried the "SCANREG /FIX" but it
didnt work.

After rebooting, I still couldnt get the right
applications to work. A friend of mine suggested that i
try to uninstall the patches by uninstalling the HotFix,
but I couldnt find it anywhere in the ADD/REMOVE SOFWARE.

Have you any other suggestions?

Joanna....

My inclination would be to uninstall the Via updates - they're more than
likely the problem

One question first though - does System Restore work??
Look here for a test for SR function - post back your results.
