Default Windows Update

Why does Windows Update not recognize that I have
downloaded and installed these critical updates: KB837009
for OE6-SP1,KB831167 for IE6-SP1 and one for MSXML4.0?
My installation history shows that I have downloaded
each of these updates several times. Yet, when I scan for
updates, the screen says "Windows Update has found three
critical updates for your computer"- the same three given
above.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can explain why this
happens.
