Default Anybody out there also has problem with Norton Antivirus 2005?

Hello,

Ever since upgrading from NAV 2004 to 2005 in February, I seem to have run
into quite a number of problems that are caused by NAV2005.

As I have had quite a lot of headaches before with Norton Internet Security,
especially with the Firewall, I've already opted for the supposedly
lightweight NAV instead of a full-blown NIS.

However, this NAV2005 has some programs that also have the name of
Netdetect, and I can't now load ICQ at startup. It somehow also seems to be
causing problem with MSN messenger if it is loaded t startup. I've thus
ever since resigned to loading these programs manually after a successful
startup.

Then I think after some sort of liveupdate like around last week, NAV
doesn't allow me to customise my taskbar to auto-hide or to use smallicons
for start menu. If I have them customised, there will be a lockup and I
will have to go to safe mode. Then I reboot, without doing anything in safe
mode as I don't know what I should do to actively solve the problem anyway.
Safe mode will restore the default for the task bar and the start menu and
the system starts up just fine again. So I actually don't know which
problem is upsetting NAV, auto-hide of the task bar or the small icons of
the start menu, as they both will be restored to default after going through
the safe mode. So now I've forsaken this option and let the default mode
take over.

However, even after this, from time to time I still run into trouble with
system startup, which I suspect is also caused by NAV. Then I will go to
safe mode and reboot the system again. And everything becomes fine again.

It's very weird. What else is actually reset when going to the safe mode?
Apart from the option for the taskbar and the start menu?

Herbert

Quite a lot of problems have been reported with NAV 2005 on Win98/98SE/ME systems.
Although some folks have it working with 98SE, the general opinion seems to be to
either go back to NAV 2004, or switch to another AV app.
