Removing Password Prompt at Bootup
Hi,
I recently installed a hdd. I used the system restore CD rom (Win98). Now, everytime I boot up, I get a prompt that has a user name and an empty slot for a password. I don't want to use a password, so I clicked "cancel", the next time (bootup) I tried pressing Enter with no password. Everything I tried did not work. What must I do to get rid of this prompt? Thanks in advance, Brad Before you type your password, credit card number, etc., be sure there is no active key logger (spyware) in your PC. |

Go to start, settings, control panel,
passwords, and change windows password. Type in your password leave the rest, [new password] blank and hit ok. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- Hi, I recently installed a hdd. It's a little more involved than that, see Richards response.

Brad Try this, the next time you boot read the "tip" don't type anything and just hit OK instead of cancel, then reboot directly. The password dialogue box should not reappear. If it does--I think I have had to use a KB (konwledge base) article to edit my registry or my .ini files. Pam . |
