Default usb conflict

I followed Microsoft Knowledge Base #299264 through all
the steps to extract three files. After giving permission
to overwrite the needed files, the computer went to the a:
prompt. What command am I to use? Are there other
prompts I will receive? How do I respond to them? I
don't understand ms-dos. Thanks for your help.

If you read KB299264 you will see that is provides detailed instructions
including the command (EXT) you need to use to replace the three files.
This from your post I assume you have done. Once you have completed using
the EXT command and replaced the three files you are finished and can
remove the boot floppy and reboot back into Win Me.

What do you see in the Device Manager when you boot back into Win Me? Do
you still see "The NTKERN.VxD device loaders for this device could not
load the device driver (Code 2)." when you check the usb device
controller?

Yes, I still see that exact message in the device mgr. I
neglected to tell you after the three files were
overwritten, at the a:\ prompt I did remove the floppy &
rebooted to WinME.
