Default disconnecting from net when phone rings

Hi...thank you all for any help you can give me with my
problem. I am trying to find out how I can have the
computer disconnect when a call is trying to come in.
There is no call-waiting here, just basic touch-tone
service. Could anyone help me please?
Thanks.

Hmm, Call Waiting is usually the culprit with this. However, as a
WAG.....do you live in an apartment which has a 'call up' from the lobby?

Clutching at straws here......grin. Heather

Actually, sounds like she *wants* to disconnect when a call comes in, in
which case installing "Call Waiting" will (probably) do it.

IIRC, there are programs which (somehow) let you know when a call is
coming through; a popup with a "you have a call, do you want to
disconnect?" message, but I'm not sure how they work.

Ah so......I did misread the question. Yes, there are programs that ID a
caller and let you give them a canned message, but can't remember what they
are called either.

Cheers.....Heather

Or if you have a lucent modem on the modem cd. Their is a program
called moh
Modem on Hold.

However, you will need call waiting. If you isp or modem does not
support moh. It will disconnect when someone calls in.

No caller id is needed.

Check https://www.internetcallmanager.com/index.html

It's a call notification service that has an option that allows you to
'disconnect' & answer a call. There is a monthly service fee; what it
is with the option mentioned, I don't know. I've used the basic
service for a about 6 years and it works great.
