Try restoring a previous registry by starting the computer in "Command
Prompt" and type "scanreg /restore". If that doesn't help, find the=20 Windows setup executables on the hard drive, rename them temporarily=20 and see what effect that has. You also might try StartupList. I = suggest=20 you extract the executable to the c:\ drive in Safe mode and run it with = the "/full" switch. c:\startuplist /full http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/f...tartuplist.zip Ben "Boone" wrote in message = news Most of these did nothing noticible. =20 A couple of comments: C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\PowerReg Scheduler.exe Was located in C:\...\Disabled Startup Items c:\windows\mstask.exe Was located in C:\windows\system\ C:\PROGRAM FILES\NETWORK ASSOCIATES\MCAFEE=20 Was missing entirely C:\Program Files\Intruder Alert 99\ia99.exe Was missing emtirely =20 [Not that I expect it makes much difference.] =20 I also did your suggestion to Run all the items in c:windows\tasks Most started and then shut down immediately.
