Default Picasa.ini

Cleaning up my files again. I noticed that in most of my Folders there is a
file "Picasa.ini". Can someone tell me what this file is?
Thanks, Eileen

Heather,
I went to Google and it does seem to be part of a program for photos. I
don't think I use it so would like to know if it is safe to delete it from
all my folders.
Thank you, Eileen

Do you own a digital camera? And, did it come with software to enable
you to connect it directly to the computer? If so, Picasa may have been
installed at the same time. It is a program that finds and indexes your
photos and creates an .ini file in any folder with images, usually
..jpg's. It usually opens when you connect your camera or its memory card
to the PC. If that's the case, removing the .ini files will cause the
program to rescan for images and recreate them. Do a search on your PC
for Picasa.exe to see if and where it is installed. Whether to keep it
or not would be up to you.

Yes, I do have a digital camera. I did a search for Picasa.exe and none was
found. Could it be a program that I uninstalled and it let behind all these
picasa.ini in so many of my files?

From what I read on Google, I think that is your problem. I will find the
forum I saw and give you the link.....rather interesting what they got into
with this.....and it does seem to stay after uninstalling the program.

Very possible, I would say that if you cannot find picasa.exe or any
other references to picasa on your machine then the .ini files are left
overs. You can delete them. That said, I have the program on my machine
and find it useful for some photo printing options such as contact sheets.
