Default WINDOWS MEDIA

Hello, I do not seem to be able to keep my windows media
player longer than 2-3 days without having to reinstall
it. Funny thing is that the icon remains all the time on
the desktop & task bar as if was still there, but when I
try to use it will not come up. So I have to reinstall it
every time. It would not do anything unless I reinstal.
I downloaded version 9 from windows update, bieng that was
the only avaliable I figure it was suited for W98SE. Am I
wrong or could there be another cause to this peculiar
problem of mine? Any help will be greately appriciate it.

If you will look here
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ad/default.asp

you will see three versions for download, all that work with
98se. 6.4 seems to be listed for Win95 only but is what comes
with ie 5.50 SP2 and works here with 98se.
