Default iTunes 7.3.2

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get the download for *iTunes 7.3.2*? Will
this *iTunes* work with the Windows 98SE? I tried the Apples website and the
one they have now is 7.4 and it is for XP and above. The reason I want to
know is because I need it for the class notes from the teacher. The teacher
does podcasts for his classes.
TIA
Angel

Of course this is increasingly common. Linux may offer a cheap
solution. PCs that run Linux as well as Win98 sometimes enable
Linux connection with devices built exclusively for XP and Vista.

Roman,
Some podcasts do work without iTunes. Example: 1.1. Our teacher uses the
iTunes 7.3.2. I have tried his links without the iTunes and I could not get
it. Maybe his link was wrong, I will keep trying. I found the iTunes 7.3.2
by Googling it. The site said that Windows 2000 was required. The newer
version 7.4 requires XP or later.
Thanks,
Angel

Hi,
Well, the iTunes for podcasts is accessible through the Universities. It
is called iTunesU. The one they are using now is Version 7.4. I can't even
get the 7.3.2 without paying for it. The teacher said that the 7.3.2 was the
one to get. According to the site for iTunesU, it is not. 7.3.2 would not
work on this computer anyway. The teachers use iTunes to get the notes from
the classes to the students. These are the ones you need the iTunes to
access the notes. I guess they think all use the latest technology. When you
tell other students that you are still using the Windows 98SE, they look at
you with a ? on their faces. and you get a frown from them. Most have fried
several computers since 98SE. Mine is still going strong.
I spoke to the girl at the reference desk in the library at the
University, she said that maybe I could access the notes through the
Computer Room in the library. I may try that next week.
Today I was speaking to the city Fire Chief at a meeting. He told me that
his daughter went back to reinstalling XP. She had Vista and it always was
crashing, she hated Vista.
Thanks everyone,
Angel

If it works on Win2K, which is a bit dated, too, maybe there is a slight
chance it might work on Win98SE? Have you tried installing it? I've
done that sometimes, and, on some rare occasions, a program will install,
even though it didn't mention Win98SE as being "supported". Of course, a
lot of the time the installer just flat out balks, and says "No way, Jose!".
However, if you're planning on trying this, you probably should have a good
and recent system backup, just in case it messes up. I use a backup USB
2.0 hard drive enclosure (containing an identical IDE hard disk) for this
kind of work.

Hi Bill,
I usually use the backup that came with the computer (Drive Image) to
backup the computer about every week or so. I don't have USB 2.0. The only
have (2) 1.1 USB ports. I would have to get the USB 2.0 port for it and the
EHD. I would have to get my grandson put it in for me. He is good at things
with the computers. I have too much electricity in my own system, I would be
afraid that I would fry the motherboard. Of course, I know the precautions.
The 7.3.2 iTunes as I understand it is the old one, some companies are using
it for their music now and ask for a yearly fee to use it. The one the
University uses now is free and it is 7.4 under iTunesU. When I read about
it, you need XP or Vista to use it. I will try to find out more from the
University Computer Room that is located in the Library Building. I had also
put out a question to the Technical dept. at the University concerning this
question about using an older version on 98SE to get the notes. I do not
want to have to buy a new computer just for classes. If I was going for a
diploma, I would probably do it. I am auditing the classes. This does not
warrant the expense of a new computer. I am enjoying the classes. I learn
something new almost everyday.

The real question is - where is he distributing his content? If it's
only available from the Apple iTunes web site, it's iTunes only. If
it's available from another web site, via RSS or some other vehicle,
you should be able to download the content and access it with programs
that work on Windows 98.

What is the URI for his content/class notes?

Vince,
When I tried his link it took me to the download page from Apple. It
wanted you to download a later version. 7.4.
Today I got an email from the help desk at the University with a link to
download 7.3.2. I tried the link and it would not download that version. The
link is:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/mo...44272&mode=inf
Maybe you can try to find out if it will work. It took me to a page and
would not even try to download.
Thanks,
Angel

Tried that link, no luck, though it will show info back to version 4.1
[2003].

Are you downloading TO an iPod, or are you trying from your hard drive, or
directly from the NET?

How about these for 98SE:

http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/ - costs
http://www.98-drivers.com/ipod.html - MUST donate 5 dollars

Or how about WinAMP?

ALL require that you have an iPod [proprietary format]...
