Remote Desktop Issues
I am trying to use Remote Desktop from a remote to host. Both computers are
running XP Pro. When I click on Network Connections. I have under Internet Gateway and icon labeled Internet Connection Under Lan or High-Speed Internet I have 2 connections: a) 1394 Connection b) Local Area Connection Connected. Setting this computer as a host. I cannot connect from a remote computer. Last night however it connected and I was able to log in. I disconnected and retried. Nothing doing. It does not get to 1st base. I think I would like to remove (uninstall) all my networkl connections and retry. The "delete" key is grey out. Any suggestions? IF |

IF The Internet Gateway is a device on your network that provides Internet access to your computers -- usually a home broadband router or an ICS host. Clicking the Internet Gateway icon lets you monitor and control the gateway device. The 1394 connection is an IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port on your computer. If you don't use FireWire networking, ignore the connection. As you've discovered, it isn't possible to delete a network connection directly. The only way to delete a connection is to go to Device Manager and remove the network adapter that the connection uses. When Windows XP re-installs the network adapter, it will create a new network connection. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups.
