DeskJet 932C won't install
I am trying to install a HP DeskJet 932C printer on a PC that is running
Windows 98 Second Edition. The driver installation software (autorun.exe), from a third party download, won't run at all on the PC. There is no apparent opening of the program and no error messages are produced. Why is there no response to the program? What can I do to get this printer installed? The Win98 SE CD does not contain drivers for the 932C as it was first marketed in year 2000. The downloaded installation software runs OK on another PC running Windows 98 First Edition. I do not have the original HP installation CD. Note: HP is no longer providing product support and / or drivers on their website for the 932C printer running on Windows 95 through Windows ME. |

DeskJet 932C won't install
I am disappointed in HP, but you are correct, their website is very clear
that they no longer provide drivers for win98, even on older hardware. Funny, what would it cost HP to leave a few Meg of driver files on a server, compared to the business they risk losing as people realize that they are willing to provide poor support? However, a Google search on "HP 932C drivers 98" got many hits. Here are some that looked promising: http://www.printer-drivers.com/drivers/82/82964.htm http://members.driverguide.com/drive...driverid=82964 http://www.dirfile.com/hp_deskjet_93...iver_v_4_3.htm Plan B: Find a friend with a similar printer and hope that he can find the CD. Plan C: Try drivers for a similar HP primter, something else in the 9xx series. Be sure that they are intended for win98. For future reference: Keep all original CDs (or disk images of them), and also keep updated drivers, ussally as *.EXE files downloaded from hardware makers. "PSRumbagh" wrote in message ... DeskJet 932C won't install
For any others running win98, and shocked by HPs lack of support for win98,
take a look at Epson printers. A quick search of their support site showed many drivers for win98 and even for win95. "PSRumbagh" wrote in message ... DeskJet 932C won't install
Try this (from MS site)
uninstall the HP DeskJet 932C or 952C printer, and then install the HP DeskJet 870CSe drivers by using the Add Printer Wizard. The 870CSe drivers are included with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Microsoft Windows 2000 Larry "Bob Harris" wrote in message ...
