Default Can't get any news readers to work! Please help.

Hello,

I have spend the last few weeks looking for an alternative newsreader
to OE.
OF just has too many issues and errors for me lately. I downloaded 2
programs to try (XNews and 40Tude Dialog) and neither will download
any usenet messages. Both give error messages such as
"reader3.news.rcn.net:access denied to your node ." Or
just plain old "access denied to rcn.net"

First of all I set up both programs exactly as they are set up in OE
using the same ports and pop and SMtp names. I can log on in OE just
fine and yet the other two programs I want to try deny my access.
Secondly it is curious that the errors mention RCN.com when in fact my
address name for news and mail is erols.com.

Anyone have any ideas. I have run out of ideas of my own to try.

Thanks in advance.
