Uninstall
Is there a preferred way to uninstall a program if you
have the choice of add/remove in control panel; or an uninstall option that is available with the program? Thanks Tom |

They often amount to the same thing. Personally I tend to always use the
entry in Add/Remove Programs whilst I am sure that there are others who do the reverse. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2004] Tom wrote: Is there a preferred way to uninstall a program if you have the choice of add/remove in control panel; or an uninstall option that is available with the program? As was answered by Mike a day or so ago, he (and I as well) prefer to do it
from Add/Remove......but you can do it the other way if you want. Be sure and check Windows Explorer to make sure all of the program is gone.....and also run a registry cleaner to get any stray stuff out of there. I have a few on here, but I stick to the old Microsoft RegClean 4.1. Not
sure if you can download it anymore. As I am not all that conversant with the Registry, the others are a bit daunting, grin. JV Tools 1.3 is what Heirloom uses for instance and I have used that carefully. There is RegSupreme, RegSeeker, Registry Crawler...lots of them. But if you are not well up on registry stuff, stick to MS RegClean. Cheers.....Heather "O.J. Newman" wrote in message ... Hi Heather! What registry cleaners are recommended? Thanks, O.J. Hi Heather:
Thanks for the info! I do have and have use MS RegClean 4.1a, although I do have a few more such as the older JV RegCleaner 4.3. I just wanted to see if there was something else that I should be looking at. Cheers, O.J. "Heather" wrote in message ... I have a few on here, but I stick to the old Microsoft RegClean 4.1.
