Hey......The Oracle knows all!! And I knew you would have a screw up if
you opened those dam programs, lol.

And I further predicted you would be back on here asking for
help......not bad for a slightly middle-aged Canadian psychic, eh?

No answers here, but watch for Heirloom.....he knows the icon answers.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with Save My Desktop, it works great on my
box. Before you go blaming the 'icons' or 'Save My Desktop'......I really
think you should be concerned with some of the 'grabage' (that's French for
garbage) that you recently installed a few days ago. I know there was this
post:

"......and don't forget that many of the "crapware" apps will install things
without your consent or knowledge, most all of which, do not come with
uninstallers. Highly suggest that you do a Google search for ("app name"
problems) or ("app name" spyware), or something similar. In most cases, you
won't have been the first person to have been stung by the malware. And, if
there is any doubt in your mind..........DON'T!"

and this one:

"This is the paragraph that would scare me off:
"You acknowledge that WebDevAZ may have added third party software to the
products and services, and that by installing such products and services you
understand that this third party software may affect the way your computer
performs. You agree that you must evaluate, and bear all risks associated
with, the use of any Content, including any reliance on the accuracy,
completeness, or usefulness of such Content.""

Now, for the help. Did your problems start just or shortly after
downloading or installing the "crapware" that contained the EULA paragraph
above?? If so, your best shot at recovery would be to see if you have a
Restore point to a time just prior to the download. The nice thing about
Restore is that it is completely reversible.....unlike some "malware."

Heirloom, old and let me guess, "The Angel of Light"
screensaver........right??

and Iconoid from was the people in here.

P.S. AND Save My Desktop! does NOT work on my computer.

Uninstall and re-download the Save My Desktop app, then reinstall it. You
should have a desktop icon for the program after doing so. This may be
overly elementary, but, bear with me just in case........ Now you need to
double click on the Save My Desktop icon and select 'save my icons' (or
something similar). Make sure that you do not have something else managing
your icons by right clicking the desktop, hover your pointer over "Arrange
Icons by", the only thing 'checked' should be "Show desktop
icons"........if you have "Auto arrange" or "lock icon positions" or
anything else checked, it will interfere.

In fact, before you go to the trouble of re-doing the Save My Desktop, make
sure you don't have something checked in the "Arrange icons by" window.
Let us know what you find.........
Heirloom, old and icons
are cool

I tried downloading the software from
http://www.softforall.com/Desktop/Ic...op03040004.htm, but
that does not work.
It reads:
File Not Found:
For some reason, the file you are looking for on WinSite is not here. It
could be that you have an old link, the file was replaced with a newer
version, or has been removed from the collection. The first thing you should
do is try a search. Please enter the program name or keyword(s) below:

Nothing to be found when I d that either.

Not sure about what is moving your Desktop icon, however, the following

site
has a dandy little app that will restore your desktop icon arrangement if

it
becomes scrambled from being in the Safe Mode or any other reason. I use
it, it is very small, does not require installation, simply runs from an
executable on your Desktop (or wherever you wish to keep it).

I have - only - one desktop icon that will not stay where is have placed
it.
I do not have anything checked in "Arrange Icons". Is there a registry
setting I can tweak to assure this icon will stay in its place.

Thank you in advance.

Found a zip file through PC World. I unzipped, and installed it. It does not
work.

Icons still have a life of their very own; changing their residences like a
criminal on the run.

Ugh!
