Default Upgrade to windows 200 Pro

I'm considering upgrading to Windows 2000 Pro from Windows
98. Has anyone experienced problems with this process? I
don't want to attempt it if there has been any
issues...I'm not very computer literate to solve any
problems that may arise. Thanks.

Before upgrading, make a list of the tasks you
want to do that Win98 will not allow.

Win2000 uses a different formatting system
for the hard drive (NTFS, unlike Win98's FAT32.)
What is the advantage to you of that?

I would not recommend it at all if you are "not very computer literate".
*Believe* me, unless your goal is to learn NT-based systems the hard way,
you do not want to bother with Win2K. I would strongly recommend that you
upgrade to Windows XP instead.

Why do you think you want Windows 2000? For what purpose? It's much more
persnickety about hardware than either 9x or XP (even if it has lower basic
minimums like disk space, RAM, etc.)

If your machine is not XP compatible, then I suggest you stick with Win98SE
and get a new XP machine, ASAP.
