Default 98 machine will not see new username

I have a Win 2000 domain with one NT4.0 server ( on the
VPN that I am having trouble with) and 5 2000 dc'S. I
created a new user and tried to log on to the domain as
the new user and I get a message " the username cannot be
found". I can log onto a 2000 machine on my side of the
VPN, but not on the 98 machine on the NT side of the VPN,
although the account shows on the NT server. It would
appear that the network settings are not set up properly,
but everythign else funcions properly. I have no problems
logging on to an older account. Please Help
