Default Printer not being detected over network

Hello, i'm hoping someone in here can help me with my problem:

2 computers, one running on 98SE, other one has XP home edition SP2. XP
machine has printer installed, and I would like the 98 one to be able to
print to it through the network. Although the 2 pc's are networked and can
both see each other's contents, as well as being able to share the internet
connection, the 98 computer is unable to see the printer.

I have checked all the obvious things like actually having the printer
shared on the network etc. but does anyone have any ideas why it cannot find
my printer?

I have been able to have this work the other way round (printer on 98
machine, XP one sees it fine) but it doesn't seem to work this way round for
some reason.

Many Thanks in advance, and if you need any further information i'll be more
than happy to provide,
Ben Foster

Assuming that you do have the printer set as "shared" on the XP machine, try
installing the printer from the 98 machine, using Start Settings Printers Add
Printer. In the Add Printer dialog, choose Network printer, continue to follow the
prompts, and insert the printer's driver disc in the 98 machine's CD drive when
prompted, to install the 98 driver.

I also suggest you ask this type of question on one of the Networking newsgroups,
where the networking experts hang out (we hope).

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately i've already tried this but to no
avail. It detects the XP machine but although it is shared the 98 machine
cannot see the printer at all, so I am unable to install the drivers for it.

I'll ask around in the network newsgroup and see if they can think of
anything.

Many Thanks,
Ben Foster
