Default Copy Icon from One Application to Another

I'm trying to copy an Icon from one application shortcut to another on
the Desk Top and in the Start Menu. Can't drag & drop the Icon from
one PropertiesShortcutChange Icon window to another. And, can't find
the Icon's file location. I've looked through the Icons in
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHELL32.DLL and searched the disks *.ico files and
couldn't find the particular icon anywhere.

Are there applications that come with their own unique sets of Icons
that are NOT in *.ico files? So that they can only be used with their
application?

The icons are often incorporated into the .exe file. When trying to change a
shortcut icon, navigate to the .exe file of the application whose icon you
want to copy and you *should* be able to 'import' that icon to your
shortcut.

Besides what Mart says, there are also several other .dll files containing
icons in the Windows\System folder.

There are also icons in Windows\moricons.dll
Also available on the Internet is iconlib.exe which is a collection of
icons, but be careful with this one as there are some infected versions
around.

Thanks all for your help. I didn't realize that Icons could be found
almost anywhere. Especially didn't realize they're sometimes embedded
in *.exe files. I think I understand it a lot better now.

Thanks again,
