Default Problem with my home network

I have 3 computers on a home network using a router and a cable modem. 2 have 98SE, and the other has XP Home. Everything was fine until about 2 days ago. Now 2 of the computers cannot access the Internet or the network. The other one is using 98SE and is connected to the Internet through the router; it's not having any problems at all. I checked all the cables, NICs, and the router, nothing's wrong with them. All of the TCP/IP settings are exactly what they're supposed to be. I tried PING, got "Request timed out" from the 2 98SE machines and "Destination host unreachable" from the XP machine. The router's settings are the factory defaults, which is what I use. The firewall in XP is disabled. When I look in Network Neighborhood and My Network Places, the 98SE machines see only themselves, and the XP machine doesn't see anything. I haven't changed anything, it just stopped working for 2 of them. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a power surge because the modem and the router are plugged into the same surge protector, and the modem is working fine. Is there a solution to this or do I need to buy a new router?

Try resetting the hardwa

1. Turn off the cable modem and router.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Turn on the cable modem and wait until it shows a connection.
4. Turn on the router.

Then, reset the IP address on each computer:

1. On 98SE run Winipcfg, select the network adapter, click Release,
and click Renew.

2. On XP, disable and then enable the network connection.

Then, try network and Internet access again.
