A friend running win 98 somehow has changed her monitor resolution so now
when she displays a dialogue box it's so big that she can't select apply and O.K. it is below the bottom of the screen. She can't drag or resize the display and can't change it to correct it in settings option. Any help on what she may have done? and how to correct it? TIA B.W. |

Usually, just pressing Enter is the same as OK. Otherwise, use Tab to move
focus to the OK button and press Enter. You may need to check it out on another machine to see how many times to press Tab to get to the right button, or indicate here which dialogue you are referring to and someone can check it for you. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "B.W." Do you mean that the reason she can't change it in the settings option is
that the option doesn't exist (apart from not being able to select OK)? The solution to that problem is to find and install the correct video display adapter drivers for your card. There may have been a CD of drivers provided with the machine (or with the card, if you bought it as an upgrade). If not, you may be able to download the correct drivers from the video display adapter manufacturer's www site, or from the www site of the machine manufacturer (if the display adapter is part of the motherboard). Otherwise, you may be able to get a suitable driver from any of the driver download sites, or you could use a generic driver from the www site of the video display chipset manufacturer. Software such as Everest can detect the type of hardware you have installed. When you get the correct drivers, follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing them. You should then have access to all the display modes that your hardware supports. Note that this problem is not a monitor or monitor driver problem - it is a problem with the drivers for the display adapter - the device that actually generates the video signal. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "B.W." Thank you Jeff, I will pass all that info on to my friend who is away at the
moment. Will report the outcome if there is one. Thanks B.W. "Jeff Richards" wrote in message ...
