Ver 7.289 Many changes from Ver 6.
Good idea to download the .pdf install/firewall setting instructions as well
:-)

Joan, as Sunny writes (elsewhere) this is version 7.0.289 whereas the "Beta"
version was 7.0.279 (or at least mine was!). So I ASS-U-ME that it is not a
Beta.

As far as I can tell, 289 appears to be slightly different from 279 but I've
not yet 'run' it. Also 279 doesn't actually appear to mention that it was a
beta (although the web site inferred it)

If you had the beta version already installed, then the 'new' one seems to
be accepted, without having to re-register. (Don't know if this happens with
a version 6 upgrade)

BTW - the web page implies that installing 287, automatically 'uninstalls'
ALL other versions - BUT be sure to "Quit AVG Control Centre" first. It
won't install to a 'running' version.

Will keep you advised if anything 'untoward happens g

Mart

Thanks Mart, it's my old WinME box I gave to my daughter that runs AVG
plus I have to show her what to do so she can sort her boyfriends XP box
out as well g

Ran it (V.7.0.289 - the Free version) this morning Joan and all seems OK.
There's no mention (that I can see) of it (still) being a beta, and the menu
utilities certainly make it look like their 'final' release.

NB it is only a 'lite' version of course, not the 'full' or Pro version and
so some of the options *may* be disabled. But certainly good enough for home
use! It's kept my machine(s) clean for the past few of years, without any of
the agro caused by other 'professional' AV packages bg

Thanks for the info Mart, it's the free version that is on the ME machine
I will probably do it in a few days when she is around to watch so that
she knows how to go about installing it on her boyfriends XP box.
