Default File Manager

I'm running Win98SE and just read that WinFile has dual panes.

Mine only has a tree and one pane. How do you get 2 panes out of it?

If you can't, what's a good 2 pane file manager without going into those
hyper complicated Explorer plus type of things with 5 or 6 tool bars?

CAREFUL with Winfile! If you use it to Copy/Move/perhaps even Rename you
will lose any LFN (Long File Name) in the destination! Don't know
whether there are other dangers as well.

Anyway,...

(1) Try Winfile's HELP button.
(2) If you have only the Tree pane, which I presume is the left pane,
then hold the mouse over the right boarder of the pane (window). When it
turns into a double arrow, drag that boarder to the left. These panes
are re-sizable, & perhaps you have dragged one over the other.

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
should things get worse after this,

You might check out Turbo Navigator. I like using it on occasion, partly
for the reason you just mentioned. Do NOT use File Manager, or you WILL be
sorry. (That is, if you care about long filenames)

extraction commands for .zip, .rar and
..cab files.

Hi Jim,

Launch Windows Explorer twice, place them side by side and navigate
each to the folders of your choice. The files can now be dragged
between the two.
