98 install?

A friend ask me if I could look at some laptop computers
he bought, to see if they worked. they both had 95 on
them, but instead of an upgrade he want me to wipe it
clean. I reformatted them both and loaded the 1st laptop
with no problems. the 2nd one contenues to reach 56%, then
a message comes up "you have interuped the install" and it
won't go anyfurther. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since it came with Win95, you might try installing Win95 and then upgrading.
This will still be a clean install since all of the old data has been wiped
out by the format.

Laptops often have proprietary hardware that requires specific drivers from
the manufacturer of the laptop. Check for any specific instructions on
installing Win98 on the laptop manufacturer's web site.
