Default Display Driver Problem

I recently reformated my computer, but when I installed the video drivers,
and restarted my computer, the computer hangs after the "Starting Windows 98"
message. I just get stuck at a black screen with a flashing '_'. When I hit
the reset switch, the computer boots to Windows, but says "There is a problem
with your display adaptor", and it stays at 256 colour and 640X480
resolution. I'm using Windows 98SE, and it's a brand new install. My video
card is a NVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64. I tried the newest and older drivers off
of the NVidia website. Any suggestions?

Uninstall the existing drivers. Use the windows default driver. After
booting with the default drivers shut down any running applications and make
sure your disconnected from the internet.

Then install the latest video drivers according to the installation notes
provided by the manufacturer of the video card.

Well, I tried had tried that, and it hadn't worked. I managed to get it to
work on my own, however. I didn't install the motherboard drivers... Thanks
anyways.
