Conflicts with monitor while playing pc games

I am currently having problems with a radeon 9550 256mb graphics card. The problem i seem to be having is when i play pc games my game will either freeze or my monitor will click to black. I know that it isnt a ram issue because i have 768 megs but im just not sure as to whether or not i actually installed the card correctly. In the installation guide that game with the card it tells you that you must install AGP drivers for non-intel chipset based motherboards. The problem with this is i cannot find an agp driver that is compatible with win98 2nd edition, and is also compatible with my athlon xp 2600+. Any and all help you could give me would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
