Can't change screen resolution
I've got a 5 year old Gateway computer that I reformated the HD and put Win98
back on. I used the original restoration disks so I have all the right drivers. This computer has a Intel Tolstoy motherboard w/intergrated sound and video. Now my problem is when I change the screen resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 it states that I have to Shut down before the change will take effect. Just like everything is OK. When I shut down it's right back at 640x480 with 16 colors. Device Manager says I have a "STB Velocity 128" adaptor and it has the proper drivers. I know that the drivers are right because I've downloaded them from 3 different sites and they are the same file. I had higher resolution before reformating the HD so I know the adaptor and display can do it. Spyware or Virus' are not an issue unless the survived the format. Any ideas out there |

You probably need to update your motherboard chipset drivers. They should
be available from Intel or Gateway. Joe " wrote in message ... I've got a 5 year old Gateway computer that I reformated the HD and put Win98 back on.
