Default Lost color and sounds

For some reason I lost the colors and the sound on my
computer. Does this mean I have a virus or could it be
something else

Have you recently installed/uninstalled anything?
What was the last thing you did prior to losing the vid/sound?

Right click the Desktop, click Properties Settings tab.
Can you move/save the Screen Area slider?
What choices do you have for Color?
Does clicking the Advanced button bring up your adapter Properties/Settings?

Is the Volume control ( speaker icon ) in the systray next to the clock?
Right click the icon and see if it is muted or turned down.

Click Start Settings Control Panel Multimedia Audio tab.
Is your Sound device listed as the Preferred device or can it be selected from the
dropdown list?
Is "Show volume control....." checked?

It may be that they were disabled, have a conflict or the drivers became corrupt.
Right click MyComputer, click Properties Device Manager tab.
Is your Display adapter listed and/or does it show any conflict?
Is your Sound device listed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers and/or does it
show any conflict?

Did you run a virus check to see?

Conflicts start where information lacks.
