Doesn't everybody do that? I do, and I hope it's not just you and me.

Sorry about the brainf$$t. Yes, I meant to type fdisk. :-) What's

worse is that I know I've made the same mistake on at least a couple of
other occasions

I have ordered a new 80GB drive and will want to do a fresh WinME
installation on it.

I've read somewhere that WinME has a 64GB limit--can't now remember

the
details or where I read it.

If this is true, I presume I can get around the limitation by

partitioning
the new HD (which I would want to do anyway). Can I do this with

Fdisk
with
the WinME Startup Disk, or does that have the same limit?

Would there be a better way of doing it? I have (and expect to use)
PartitionMagic 8.0. If I partition first with Fdisk, will I screw

anything
up by later making other partitions with PM? Would it be possible

(and/or
better) to install WinME first and *then* recover the entire HD by
partitioning with PM?

You can download partitioning and formatting software from your hard

disk's
manufacturer's web site to put onto a floppy and use that to format

and
partition your HD. It's free and very user friendly.

Good idea. The 80GB drive is a Maxtor and came with a CD with such

software.
I've gotten software with hard drives before, but always ignored it and

just
used Fdisk etc. to do the job, because looking at the supplied software
didn't impress me much. But that was some time ago, it's probably much
better software now, and I will use it.

Thanks.

Let me know how you like it.

Sure will. It'll be at least a couple of days before I get to it, though.
I'll make a note, and if I don't lose the note . . . :-)
