Default Upgrading to Windows XP

I have an older WIN2000 machine. I do not have the password to log onto the
machine and can not get it.

I need to upgrade it to WINXP. I have the WINXP CD and am trying to boot
from there so I can format the hard drive and intall. However when I attempt
to boot from the CD it stops at "Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM : ".

Any and all suggestions on how to get past this would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Wrong newsgroup (this is for the legacy operating system Windows
Millennium).

Your problem seems to be that your system bios may not be compatible with
booting from an XP CD however have you tried hitting Enter/Return when you
see the message? If not, do so otherwise the system won't boot from the CD.

I regret to inform you that is newsgroup is for the support of neither
|Win2K, nor XP.
However, since we are having a closing-down sale, please hold, one of our
assistants will be with you shortly.

Wrong forum, but passwords can be disabled from the bios by checking an
owners manual and changing the proper jumpers.

I read his initial problem as not being able to get into the computer at all
without the password. If he can do that, he can stick with Win2000.

True - but that has nothing to do with BIOS.
The pass word that the OP is missing is the W2K logon password.
If the machine was previously on a Domain, then there's very little we can
do.
OTOH, if the machine was previously a standalone, then perhaps a *nix
password changer disk may help, assuming that
a) the W2K installation still exists
b) that's what he wants to do!
