Default Explorer error message when switching on PC

When switching on my home PC, I get the following message, "Explorer has caused an error in ~5151585654.TMP. Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try re-starting your computer."
I can no longer connect to my ISP and when closing this pop up window, my PC reboots.
I have tried deleting this .TMP but can't as it says it's in use.
Any solutions?

Such a message is an indication that your PC is host to some unwanted
malware.
Check your system using your preferred antivirus application making sure
first
that you are using an updated current set of viral reference signatures.

This would be a good time to download yourself a copy of the free Ad-Aware
6.0
from Lavasoft (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also
SpyBot
Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and use them to check
your
system for other commercial parasites remembering that they are only as
good
as when you last updated their reference files. I also use a program
called
BHODemon (http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm that checks for
unwanted Browser Help Objects and SpywareBlaster
(http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html) which can help
prevent
some parasites getting a grip on your PC.

Then there is CWShredder
(http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip or
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip) which is the best
way
of getting rid of the many forms of the CoolWebSearch hijacker details of
which can be found at
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html
and also http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/c/cws.asp..

Finally if you still continue to experience problems download a copy of
HijackThis from (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html).
Create a
folder called hijackthis on C: and copy the file you downloaded to that
folder. Close as many applications as you can including all instances of
Internet Explorer and then run hijackthis.exe and post back the log,
provided
that it isn't too long, to this thread, otherwise to the HijackThis Forum
at
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/ and hopefully this will enable someone
to
identify the cause of your problem.

You don't need to be online to boot to Safe Mode. Use MSConfig (Start, Run
and enter MSConfig and click OK), look for and remove any suspicious entries.
Empty your Temporary folder (by default Windows\Temp and your Temporary
Internet Files using Control Panel | internet Options | General | Deleted
Files and ensure that you check the box to "Delete all off line content". Now
scan your system using your AV program.

Now boot back in to Normal Mode. If the same error pops up ignore it for the
moment and see if you can now connect to the net. If yes, then proceed as
previously suggested by Joan.

You did see the size didn't you? Even then that's perhaps an exaggeration of
how much grass there is in the window boxes at the moment. :-)

Daughters ... just where are they when you need some help such as tidying away
_their_ "stuff" and doing _their_ washing up?

lol I did see the size but even that is beyond me at the moment, as for

Younger daughter just departed although am somewhat sad as I won't be seeing
her for a month or so as she leaves for Thailand on Thursday. :-)
Nevertheless great sighs of relief all round as the door closed behind her.
