Default Driver

The video display adapter on my computer contains driver NVARCH 16.dll.,
file version 4.13.01.2832. I have downloaded this driver from
http://www.video-drivers.com/ but it's file version is 4.12.1.368. Is this
an update or a completely different driver? How is the safest way to
install this driver? Thanks

What is your Video display card? - without that minor detail, everything is
supposition!
Always, if you can, download the drivers from the manufacturer's website -
they are the ones who wrote them, after all, and usually have proper
instructions on the installation.

The nVidia Vanta is a card I know well!
The problem is that the basic Vanta chipset is in use by a large number of
manufacturers - each of which should have optimised drivers for their
implementation.

Look here for the drivers provided by nVidia themselves - which are the
baseline set.
http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/6...9x_english.exe

You need to find out who provided the actual card or motherboard - try using
Everest Home Edition (www.lavalys.hu) to see if it gives a clue.

This may be a good place for Mike M to expand on his comment that installing
the latest nVida graphic driver, under WinME, deprives the ability to create
a new folder on a right click, or to select thumbnail view in explorer, or
the abiliity to share.
It appears the nVidia installer wipes out the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\Directory registry key.

Perhaps Mike will explain how to repair this key.

Hi Jack,

If L.B. Keaton let's us know that he is having problems I will either post
here or send him a zip file containing a reg file that he can merge with
the registry to add back any entries that might have been removed from
that key.

Cheers,

Jack,

I'm aware of that issue in SOME systems.

I'm running nVidia latest drivers for WinME (61.76) and did not have that
problem.

The problem isn't with the nVidia drivers but rather with some recent
versions of the installer used by nVidia.
