Low in System Resources while trying to open word

Hi,

I have been using word 2000 program in my pc without any
problem and now, when trying to open the program, it
freezes the pc( and word doesn't open, and a couple of
seconds later I receive a "low in system resources" error
message. As the computer gets freezed when trying to
open word, I have to proceed restarting the PC
(Cntrl+Alt+Del). All other programs run well on the pc.

To try to fix this problem, I've tried uninstall and then
to reinstall it back. But still having the same problem,
then checked hard drive space and it had 16.3 gb of free
space for a 18.8gb drive and RAM memory of about 32mb
ram, also checked "resources available" in the system
properties, and found out it was at 88%.

I though might be a problem of low memory (RAM) and to
upgrade to a 128MB RAM memory. Unfortunately, still have
the same problem.

What can I do to solve this issue so the computer can be
able to open the word program and not receive the low
system resources message ??

try two things ..."detect and repair" under "help" menu...

delete normal.dot ...it may be corrupt (it will be recreated at startup)
