Default Problems accessing XP from an ME machine

I have a few problems with a network that i am building.

There are 3 pc's with two running ME and the other running XP.

The XP machine can access the two ME machines with no errors.

The problem seems to be the with the two ME machines accessing the XP
machine. The XP machine appears within the workgroup for both but i
get access violations when i try to access it.

Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.

Try logging on to the ME machines with the same username and password
that you use on the XP machine. You need proper credentials to access
shares on an NT machine, use authenticated/validated logons on the ME boxes.

That's true in some cases and not in others.

XP Home Edition always allows access by all users. So does XP
Professional, using its default settings.

If you've explicitly disabled simple file sharing, XP Professional
uses NT-style authentication, which requires matching user names and
passwords.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was under the impression that it was
the case only between XP machines per se.

Regards;

John
