My internet connection stops when I defrag a drive.
I've had this same problem on win95, 98 and 98SE
I have a dialup internet connection and when I defrag the hard drive or even a different drive to which the operting system is on, my internet connection just stops. More annoyingly this also happens if I transfer a large amount of files from one place to another on the disk drive. When the defrag finishes the connection resumes as normal. Does anyone know why this happens, and more importantly is there a workaround? TIA

Windows disk utilities run their tasks. What you describe is not exactly good computing practices...
