Default Upgrading to XP

I am trying to upgrade to win xp from win98SE but i get an
error message saying setup cannot copy D:\i386\mfc42.dll
to C:\windows\setup\mfc.dll

can you please help.

XP questions need to be asked in an XP newsgroup so you get the benefit of
advice from experts on that system.
