Default Difficulties getting 98SE to play with a wireless card - MFC42.dll

I'm setting up a box for my sister, and am including a D-
Link Wireless card. Problem is, when I try to run the
included software (after installing it), I get the
following error message:

Error Starting Program
The ANIOAPI.DLL file is linked to missing export
MFC42.DLL:6467

Now, I've done some research, and have found that that
particular DLL is the stereotypical paranoid schizophrenic
of the win98 environment. However, I have not yet found a
cure that has worked.

I've run SFC, I've replaced the .dll with the one on the
install disk, I've -un- and re-installed the software. I
took Myke's advice and tried replacing the .dll with a
newer one from online, but I'm still trying to coerce
Microsoft.com into giving me a direct link to it.

My question is: have any of youse guys had similar (or the
same) problems, and if so, what was your solution? Also,
if you happen to have a clean copy of the newest release
of MFC42.dll (or know where the link on the MS site is),
and would be willing to send it to me, I'd very very much
appreciate it.

Thanks!

Have you checked that there is only one copy of MFC42.DLL on your system?

If the software you are installing on your system is compatible with W98
then it should work with the version of MFC42.DLL supplied on the
installation disk.

The latest version is available he
