When MS stops supporting win98, does that mean all the MVPs here will
scatter? One of you mentioned going over to Vista.... what will you do in the mean time? Are you guys all going to the same group? If so, that alone would be reason enough for me to switch to Vista. ) OT: Does MS have an MVP supported newsgroup for Excel and Powerpoint? If so... what are their titles? |

The way Macro$haft is going, part of the registration number you give to activate Vista will be include your credit-card number. I'm surprised that Vista won't be pay-per-use. |

Quite a few already have, at least partly due to the lack of activity on these newsgroups. The number of new postings per day has been declining steadily and with that decrease there is also a drop in the need for people to respond to those postings. The good news is that there is still one microsoft newsgroup for DOS and Windows 3.x, and several for Windows 95; and there are MVPs who do follow those newsgroups. So those who remain with Windows 98 will almost certainly not be completely abandoned by the MVPs and others who provide answers, although some of the familiar names may be seen less often or not at all. My expectation is that the newsgroup will continue for awhile

"sf" wrote in message ... When MS stops supporting win98, does that mean all the MVPs here will scatter? I can't speak for the others - but I'm not going anywhere! Yes. I'll be spending more time in other groups - but that's simply because there's less activity her than there. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's |

One of the most pertinent questions that I've yet to see a coherent answer for regarding Win-98se is why there isin't a generic set of drivers for common USB devices (eg - memory sticks, mass storage devices, etc) that would allow 98 to accept any memory stick without always asking for the damn brand-specific driver. |

I haven't tried these ...but the look interesting : http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php |

See http://aumha.org/nntp.htm Thanks, but I'm still trying to figure out where the mvps flock. That's the same list I can get from my newsreader. |
