Default Unable to install Win 98

I have deleted and made new partition, formatted and then try to install win
98. I have used 3 different Win 98 cd's, all the same results. This is the
message I get.

error loading user.exe
please remove any floppy disks from your drives and press any key to restart.

Then it all stops. ???? Any suggestions ?

What is occurring when the message appears? What caused you to format the
drive and install clean? This could be a ram problem--can you swap it out
with known good ram?

This guy was having problems with multi different errors with the registry. I
didn't write any of them down, I was planning on an uneventful install....
When this message comes up, you hit a key and it restarts, then does the
same thing the next time you try to set-up..

Registry errors often indicate RAM problems, as Ron suggested. Try a good
memory diagnostic to confirm that RAM is OK before persisting with the
installation.
