Default I must have been sleeping

I finally retire and want to just sit and enjoy what I have not had time to
do and suddenly find out that Windows 98 is outdated and that I need to
update to keep from having these messages appear telling me I have some
errors or something?

Those error messages have details, and the devil is truly in the details.
Please provide a verbatim report of the error message(s) as described under
the Details button.

Basically the message was that there was an error and it would create a
report to microsoft and then close. After it happened the second time, I did
check the detail and it referred me to the update screen. At that point it
told me that as a mac user I should redirect to another area. I contacted
micrsoft by e-mail and was then told that windows 98 had expired and that I
should update to the new system. I really have better uses for the $200.
It's probably best to just let it lie. My grandkids live with me and they
have a computer that has XP (?) I think. Anyway I'm going fishing and not
going to let it bother me..Thanks

I have a set of CDs that will fully update Win98/98SE/ME, which I give away
for cost ($3).

I suspect that's not your problem, regardless of the response from MS. But
if you want the update CDs, email me at: update_at_grystmill.com

Enjoy your fishing.

Well, I still don't know the details of the error message(s) you got. Only a
vague "go to Windows Updates to fix it" message. Does it not name the
error(s)?

Besides, what you report sounds like Windows XP Error Reporting, not
something you'd find on Windows 98. Doesn't make any sense.

First, I'm still confused as to whether we're talking about Windows 98 or
Windows XP. As I said, Windows 98 doesn't have any error reporting feature,
nor does it supply possible solutions for errors. You may have something
else on your system that is doing a similar service, so I'd like a full
reporting of any errors, including the title of the error window(s), etc.
Every little detail.

Second, I discount almost all errors received during an email Send/Receive
session unless they repeat ad infinitum. Those kinds of errors happen all
the time, and are only worth worrying about if they are persistently and
consistently the same error. Even then, I wait several hours to test again
before proceeding to t-shoot the problem, unless I can tell from the error
message that it is something I know about that needs fixing on my end. Your
error sounds more like a server error than anything on your end, but if it
persists then I suppose one or more of your OE settings might be off.
