ATAPI is a term normally used with cd rom, cdr, cdrw, magnetic/optical
floppy drives. ATA is the spec for ide.

The secondary slave is not responding to the bios during interrogation. If
it works in windows, don't sweat it.

ATAPI =3D "Advanced Technology Attachment Packet Interface"
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/cd/confATAPI-c.html

SEC =3D "Single Edge Contact"
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/cpu/char/packSEC-c.html

The problem is that your new SEC drive is not compatible with the way =
you have it hooked up. The "slave" part just means that you have it =
plugged into a standard IDE channel and rigged to be the slave drive. =
(IDE channels can support two drives, Master and Slave.) I don't know =
the sure answer to this question, other than it's my impression that the =
SEC drive needs it's own special type of controller/connection to =
perform properly. You don't mention whether or not it functions after =
you finish loading Windows.

You'll probably find the rest of your answers at http://PCGuide.com, =
too, or in the manufacturer's documentation for your SEC drive.

No, the DSL problem has nothing to do with the other issue. You need to =
ask your DSL provider for help. Set it up again. Those numbers sound all =
wrong. At least, that 24 kbps download one does. Are your downloads =
really that slow? Your upload speed sounds normal.

SEC has nothing to do with the subject. Read your link a bit. more.

My *serious* bad! I was tired, and my brain somehow started at SATA =
(Serial ATA) and ended at SEC by some obviously convoluted train of =
searches.

Obviously, OP is talking about SECondary Slave. And it may very well be =
OK after it finishes booting, but I'd want to fix the situation. A HDD =
shouldn't be slaved to a CD drive. Knowing what the rest of the drives =
are would help sort it out.
