I've found a lot of posts about this error, but none that address my
particular problem. I run Comcast through Outlook Express with XP. I
have 5 preexisting accounts that all work fine. I added a 6th, sent a
test e-mail from one of the good accounts to the new one (and vice
versa)and get this error message: The message could not be sent
because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected
e-mail address was '. Subject '', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '550 5.1.1 Not our Customer', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79. I've run registry fix
programs, copied the new account line for line in properties with the
preexisting accounts and still nothing works. Please help.

This problem has nothing to do with the Windows Millennium operating system
(this NG is for those running Win Me rather than XP) but instead I suspect
more to do with Comcast who have changed the port to be used when sending
mail. Whilst port 25 has long been the default port for submitting mail
Comcast are now using port 587.

So in OE, try the following:
Tools | Accounts, select the mail account involved and then click
"Properties". Now open the Advanced tab locate the entry Outgoing mail
(SMTP) and change the value in the adjoining box from 25 to 587. Click
Apply, exit out and test.

That error looks to me as if your new email address hasn't been activated on
comcasts servers - although Mike is correct in his suggestion that the ports
may have changed, the verbiage would almost certainly be different for a
port-block bounce.
....here's one I got from a misconfigured account....

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test port25', Account:
'test@bagillt', Server: 'mail.bagillt.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 32,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

There's no "may" about it, Comcast have changed there smtp port. If you
search Google using "0x800CCC79 comcast" you will find over 1,000 similar
reports. For example see
http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/.../msg01302.html
which is a copy of a post from Norman Miller who regularly posts here.
