pop ups
Hi,
I recently installed ME upgrade on my older pc. I have a network card and all drivers are installed. I need to get online with my college and it needs to have pop ups disabled. Is there a way to do that with ME? Also I am using SBC Global DSL and I can get to MSN and some other sites but can'T get to yahoo.com it says page can't be displayed. I have reset my Modem and DSL router but am still having issues. Thanks, John |

There's nothing in Win Me that stops pop-ups. To do that you would have
to install a third party application or perhaps customise the hosts file. Likewise there's nothing in Win Me that would allow you to visit say msn.com yet stop you from visiting yahoo.com unless you have blocked this by using for example a customised hosts file. -- Mike Maltby traumajohn wrote: Hi, I recently installed ME upgrade on my older pc. Thank you for your response. Do you have any suggestions for a third party
software for the pop ups or should google desktop or something like that provide me the fix? "Mike M" wrote: There's nothing in Win Me that stops pop-ups. You originally said ""needs to have pop ups disabled" so I don't quite
understand why you are now asking about software that does the opposite, that is prevents pop-ups. Such software tends to be amongst that offered by anti-virus/anti-malware vendors. Perhaps it would help if you were to explain exactly what it is you are trying to "fix". -- Mike Maltby traumajohn wrote: Thank you for your response. Sorry about the mis info in my last post. I need a pop up blocker from a 3rd
party. Do you have any suggestions? i.e. google desktop or something like that provide me the fix? The fix is to block pop ups on individual websites. If my online college "mootle.edu" needs to have pop ups disabled. When I attempt to log into moodle.edu I get a message stating that pop ups must be dis abled to continue. thanks again, john "Mike M" wrote: You originally said ""needs to have pop ups disabled" so I don't quite understand why you are now asking about software that does the opposite, that is prevents pop-ups. When I attempt to log into moodle.edu I get a
message stating that pop ups must be dis abled to continue. So don't block them. As I have already said there is nothing in Win Me that is blocking pop-ups. If these are being blocked then this is due to some software that you have installed, the same software may be what is preventing you accessing yahoo.com. Are you sure that the message is about pop-ups and not cookies? -- Mike Maltby traumajohn wrote: Sorry about the mis info in my last post. I need a pop up blocker from a 3rd party.
