Default Zonealarm and ME

Hi nicdig,

I have been using ZoneAlarm Free for many years now and never had any
problems. It does not appear to be a resource "hog" on my WinME system.

The last version of ZA Free compatible with WinME is 6.1.744.001, subsequent
versions only run on WinXP. This can be downloaded at
http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html

A common mistake that people made when trying to design something completely
foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Hi-I just got a used pc for my teen, that has windows Me preinstalled. I
would guess this pc is a 2000 yr. I have been successfull installing and
using the DSL, anti virus & spyware removal programs; along with others.
DOes this version of windows have system restore & a built in firewall?? I
am used to using XP home on other pc's that I have. So this is all new to
me.
I tried installing ZA but, towards the end, i think that I needed to get
another version compatible with this older pc. ALso, where can i find the
system restore options (if this version has it) so that I can make sure

that
they are ON and configured.
ANy other tips for the ME would be appreciated. thanks

These requirements are for versions AFTER 6.1.744.001. (V6.5.XXX. etc)
V6.1.744 was the last version to run on ME/98 etc.. When I downloaded and
attempted to install v6.5, I was rewarded with a message saying "You need XP
to run this version". I do not update now and work on the principle that ME
is so old hat and thin on the ground that hackers etc will probably only
develop new hacks for XP etc.

Of course if anybody out there knows differently .....
