Default How to disable the Windows Logon Dialog

Hi,
Let's see if I can write this up without working through it. ;-) Nearly
anytime I make a change in Control Panel Network or use my (backup) dial-up
connection, my autologin is lost.

Try this...
Download and install TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstati.../nttweakui.asp
Find TweakUI in Control Panel. Look it over. Don't do anything yet.

Find and delete YourUserName.pwl in C:\WINDOWS

Go to Control Panel Network Primary Network Logon. Note whether you're
using
Client for Microsoft Networks, Microsoft Family Logon or Windows Logon.
Select a different option. Restart.

Login with a username but no password (I would not use default- no real
reason- just a hunch.)

Delete YourUserName.pwl again.

Go back to Control Panel Network Primary Network Logon. Re-select the
original option. Restart.

Login with a username but no password.

Open TweakUI Logon tab. Check the "Logon automatically" box. Put in your
username. Leave password blank. Click OK. Note the warning that the "Clear
last user" setting must be disabled. Restart.

If you get a login box, login with your username but no password.

I *think* that's how I've been doing it. G But I remember it takes about
3 restarts.

Hope this helps,
Don

I have only user profile on my Windows Me computer but since yesterday it
displays the Windows Logon dialog box at startup. I followed the procedure
described in this KB article:

Q152104 "How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon
Prompt
at Startup" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=152104)

but i still receive a logon prompt.

Hi,
Thanks, but that seems to not be working for Stoyan and if it had worked for
me, I wouldn't have invented the "three restart" method. ;-)
